Lockout Tagout Training (LOTO)
Course Overview
Hazardous energy exists in many forms across a diverse range of industries across Canada. Lockout and Tagout (or LOTO) is necessary to prevent the accident release of such hazardous energy. Lockout and Tagout standards require hazardous energy sources to be isolated and rendered inoperative before maintenance or servicing work can begin, therefore preventing the devastating injuries and deaths caused by unexpected energization. This Lockout/Tagout Training course will be presented in four chapters:
- Chapter 1: LOTO Roles and Responsibilities
- Chapter 2: Hazardous Forms of Energy
- Chapter 3: Developing LOTO Procedures, and
- Chapter 4: Locking Out and Tagging Out Equipment
Topics Covered
By the end of this online course, you should be able to:- Explain the purpose of LOTO and when it should be used
- Describe the differences between primary and stored forms of energy
- Provide examples of LOTO devices, and
- Describe the basic steps of performing LOTO

A passing grade of 80% or higher required. Up to 3 attempts are provided.
