Semiconductor Environmental, Health and Safety at Work
Course Overview
Employers must do what they can to protect workers from injuries and illnesses. They must implement an environmental, safety and health program, and employees must be trained in it. This course is part of that program. You will learn about precautions, safety and security, workplace hazards, emergencies, and resource and energy conservation. Semiconductor fabrication workers are confronted with environmental, safety and health hazards on a daily basis. Take this course to learn about what steps your employer or host site is required to take and what actions you can take to ensure your safety and the safety of others. This course specifically addresses ergonomics, noise, personal protective equipment (PPE), working alone and chemical safety. Think about all the equipment used in a semiconductor fabrication facility. Now think about the different types of hazardous energy used to operate that equipment. Take this course to learn about these hazards and what you can do to ensure the safety of everyone exposed to them. This course specifically addresses hazardous energy types and regulations, energy isolating devices and electrical safety. Ideal learners are semiconductor employees.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize EHS precautions and how they apply to you
- Know general safety and security precautions for your work environment
- Identify common workplace hazards
- Recall housekeeping protocols to reduce hazards
- Recall three money and energy saving conservation practices
- Recognize common types of ergonomic injuries and risk factors and best practices that can minimize them
- Identify the health effects of exposure to high levels of noise
- Define the hearing conservation program, including how noise is measured and types of hearing protection
- Recognize best practices for the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Identify risk factors and precautions for working alone
- Know the topics addressed in your company's hazard communication program, including labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and chemical hazardous waste
- Recognize the types of hazardous energy that may be present in your environment
- Select the best source for determining hazardous energy regulations for your workplace
- Identify electrical energy injuries and how to prevent them
This course takes approximately 60 minutes to complete
A passing grade of 80% or higher required. Up to 3 attempts are provided.
A certificate will be provided upon the successful completion of this course
