Process Safety Management
Course Overview
The goal of the lesson is make employees aware of the primary objective of process safety management: to prevent unwanted releases of highly hazardous chemicals into locations that expose employees and others to serious hazards, and to provide an overview of the standards and best practices necessary to achieve that objective.
Upon successful completion of this course, you should have a better understanding of:
- The dangers associated with a catastrophic release of highly hazardous chemicals
- The purpose of Process Safety Management
- The possible causes of hazardous chemical releases
- Identifying Process Safety Management Program components
- How a culture of safety contributes to the effectiveness of Process Safety Management
- Elements of Process Safety Information (PSI) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) that keep employees safe
- How to recall basic criteria for Emergency Planning and Response, Training, Pre-startup Safety Review, Management of Change, and Operating Procedures
