Laser Safety
Course Overview
The goal of this lesson is to provide an introduction to lasers and laser safety controls and procedures, in order to minimize the risks associated with laboratory and maker spaces laser usage.
Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Explain the purpose and components of a laser safety program and the importance of following laser safety procedures
- Identify the different types of lasers used in labs and makerspaces as well as the hazards associated with them
- Describe administrative and engineering controls that can reduce the risks of laser usage
- Identify operating practices and procedures that may reduce the risks of laser usage
