EHS software is the technology used to manage safety, health, environmental, and compliance activities. An EHS management system is the broader framework of policies, responsibilities, procedures, goals, training, audits, leadership involvement, and continuous improvement practices that guide how an organization manages EHS. Software supports the system, but it does not replace leadership, worker participation, hazard controls, or sound decision-making. OSHA’s recommended safety and health program elements include leadership, worker participation, hazard identification, prevention and control, training, evaluation, and communication, which software can help document and execute.
