Is cloud-based EHS software secure?
Cloud-based EHS software can be secure when it includes strong security controls such as encryption, role-based permissions, secure hosting, backups, audit logs, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and access controls. Safety managers should not assume all platforms have the same security standards, especially when the system stores employee records, incident details, training certificates, contractor documents, environmental records, and compliance files. U.S. companies should involve IT and compliance teams when reviewing vendor security practices. For high-risk industries, secure cloud access helps protect sensitive safety data while still allowing authorized users to work from the field, office, or remote locations.
