Confined Spaces Safety
Course Overview
Each year, preventable incidents in confined spaces lead to serious injuries and fatalities. This course is designed to build awareness, confidence, and competence for anyone who works in or around confined or enclosed environments.
Learners will explore the key components of a confined space program, including hazard identification, atmospheric testing, and the completion of entry permits. The course also covers the responsibilities of all team members involved - employers, supervisors, attendants, and entrants ensuring everyone understands their role in maintaining safety.
Additionally, participants will review safe entry procedures, effective communication methods, and rescue planning. The training aligns with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and highlights the importance of compliance, teamwork, and emergency readiness.

- Introduction to Confined Spaces: Understanding what qualifies as a confined space and recognizing common examples
- Regulatory Standards: Overview of Canadian regulations, jurisdictional requirements, and industry standards
- Team Roles and Responsibilities: Key duties of employers, supervisors, attendants, and entrants
- Pre-Entry Procedures: Hazard assessments, entry permits, and atmospheric testing protocols
- Safe Work Practices: Steps for safe entry, effective communication, PPE selection, and ongoing monitoring
- Hazard Recognition and Controls: Identifying toxic gases, oxygen deficiencies, engulfment, and applying the hierarchy of controls
- Emergency and Rescue Procedures: Self-rescue, non-entry rescue, and entry rescue techniques, along with rescue readiness and planning

A passing grade of 80% or higher required. Up to 3 attempts are provided.
A certificate will be provided upon the successful completion of this course
