EHS software should either be industry-specific or flexible enough to support the company’s actual industry risks. U.S. safety managers in mining, oil and gas, construction, and transportation need workflows for field inspections, equipment checks, vehicle safety, contractor management, training records, incidents, hazard assessments, and corrective actions. A generic system may work if it can be configured to match these needs, but high-risk employers should be cautious about platforms designed mainly for low-risk office environments. The right system should reflect real jobsite conditions, regulatory pressures, workforce structure, and documentation demands.
