Wildfire Safety
Wildfires create hazards that can affect outdoor work, site operations, employee health, and emergency planning. This course provides practical guidance on wildfire behaviour, ignition control, air quality monitoring, evacuation planning, and worker support. Learners gain foundational knowledge to help identify hazards, adjust work during smoke events, and support safer workplace response during wildfire season.
Course Overview
The course covers wildfire types, fire behaviour, worksite ignition sources, smoke exposure, emergency kits, evacuation routes, and physical and psychological health considerations. Through practical, scenario-based learning, participants review how to assess workplace risks, apply controls, and make informed decisions when wildfire conditions affect work.

- Identify wildfire types and explain how weather and fuel affect spread
- Recognize workplace ignition hazards that may contribute to wildfire risk
- Apply workplace controls to reduce the chance of sparking a fire

- Develop evacuation plans with routes, triggers, roles, and communication steps
- Assess emergency response plans and prepare an appropriate evacuation bag
